Put simply, in some instances/training needs you need Instructional Design (ID). It depends largely on the content you need to share and the desired goal/affect. What is the learning goal? Who are the learners? Sometimes another approach is necessary, a blended approach. Learning Experience Design (LXD) incorporates elements of different disciplines like interaction design, neuroscience, cognitive psychology and teaching. It’s a more a human centered approach AND still goal oriented. Action Mapping is one step we use to help identify which approach is best suited for your learners and situation.
